D.I.Y. or should I say, H.Y.B.I.L.D.I. - Part One

(note: please don't judge me by this post. the extreme disorganization was something that I hated and trust me, I am glad to have finally seen the light=)

A full weekend project. Or so I thought.

I recently realized how inexpensive it was to do a closet organizer (and not $100+ like I thought), so I went to the local Home Depot on the way home from work one day this week and bought one organizer with my sights set on a weekend project.

When I began the project yesterday afternoon, I had a two day plan in place.

Day One
1.) Get the required tools needed (level, stud finder and drill) from my brother-in-law.
2.) Put all clothes that needed to be in my closet in there spot and when everything is in, begin removing everything - in order - so that instead of having clothes just all over my room, putting my closet back together later would not take as long.
3.) Remove the shelf and rod that were currently in there.

Day Two
1.) Wake up early and begin to put together my new closet! (Every review I had read said it took about 4 hours to install so I expected 5-6 hours for me since I had no clue what I was doing.)
2.) Put all my clothes back and enjoy all of the EXTRA space.

So with my two day plan in place, I began working on it yesterday around 7 . After I put all of my stuff in, this is what my closet looked like:

dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnn!
pretty tight fit. and notice the bar starting to bend.

all my shirts... from lightest to darkest.
see the space in between them? yeah, I don't either.

the unorganized shoe collection.

after I removed everything (shoes, bags, shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, etc.) from the closet.

finally empty.

Well, almost empty. You see that piece of wood along the back wall? Well that was what was holding up the shelves that used to be in the closet. And that wood was securely nailed into the wall with about 32 nails, proving for the removal to be a little difficult for me. I tried prying it off for about 10 minutes with a hammer but quickly gave up and went to ask my brother-in-law Tim (who happened to be at our house) to come remove it for me.

So Tim came to the room and it took him all of about 2 minutes (maybe less) to get it off the wall. And then I realized I had finished all of the "Day One" tasks. What a good feeling.

Listen. You better update the follow up of this project. Not to would be cruel and abusive. And i am not opposed to receiving any of the clothing that won't fit into your newly organized closet. Just sayin. And you kinda owe me...if you know what i mean.

Oh you know I couldn't leave it like that! I plan on going through my newly organized closet to see if there are things I need to pass on, so if I have anything I will let you know and send it with baby ruth this summer!

p.s. - I don't know what you mean when you say that I owe you... unless you mean I owe you for being a fabulous friend! but really how could i ever pay you enough for that?!?!

Girl~ You've bought some cute new shoes lately! Love the black wedges! Too bad I don't live close enough to borrow them! Love you girl, hope to see you soon!

Em - I sure wish you lived closer! Those are one of my favorite pairs of shoes for work right now because with all the running around I have to do, they still don't even feel like heels! I LOVE a wedge=) And what's even better, I snagged them from Ross for ... $10!
